The site of the proposed development at Killygordon, Co. Donegal, is located just off the main Ballybofey to Lifford road on a site currently in use as the Killygordon sewage treatment facility. The proposed development is to consist of a new treatment facility and access road. The site is close to three standing stones and a cist grave. The latter is the closest monument to the site. Nine test-trenches were excavated across the site in July 2005. All trenches were 1.8m wide and were excavated to a depth of between 0.4m and 0.5m. Five of the trenches were 20m long and four were 50m long. Similar contexts were revealed in all nine trenches, with no evidence of archaeological activity.
