Monitoring was carried out at Ballymacool, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, between 29 November and 21 December 2005. This monitoring programme is a component of the larger overall scheme to construct 571 residential units, with an 8.09ha park, a crèche, a health centre, three commercial units, site reservation for a future school, associated site and infrastructural works. This monitoring phase was concerned with the realignment of the current R250 Letterkenny–Glenties road. The development lands contain a number of monuments and consequently was considered to be of high archaeological potential. Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was undertaken throughout the entire realignment of the roadway. No archaeological material was noted.
