Monitoring of topsoil removal in advance of the construction of a new wastewater pipeline and several new pumping stations along the north coast in the vicinity of Coleraine, Co. Derry, has been ongoing since June 2005. Previous trial-trenching had revealed possible archaeological deposits at two locations within the pipeline corridor (see Nos 304 and 308, AE/05/03 and AE/05/04, Excavations 2005) which are to be investigated once the mainline stripping has been extended into both areas. During the current works on the site there have been no further deposits uncovered, although work is currently continuing.
