At a site in the environs of a burial ground, ringfort and souterrain, at Drom North, Castletownbere, six test-trenches were machine-excavated to a maximum depth of 0.35m, removing a dark-brown loamy topsoil with occasional stone inclusions to reveal a stiff, light-coloured clay subsoil, also with stones. No archaeological finds or features were identified in the course of testing.
