Test-trenching of a greenfield site took place in advance of construction of a single dwelling house. The development site is located at the east end of the zone of archaeological potential surrounding a fulacht fiadh and six trenches were excavated to ascertain if associated archaeological features were present. A charcoal-enriched deposit, with frequent inclusions of heat-shattered stones, was uncovered in one of the trenches. This was located at the east end of the development site, where the developer had intended to build a garage adjacent to the house. This appeared to be a portion of a previously unrecorded fulacht fiadh site that extends outside the east end of the development site. The developer was advised to amend the layout of the dwelling house and garage in order to avoid impacting on the potential fulacht fiadh site.
