It is proposed to develop an area in the back garden of a 19th-century terraced dwelling house located on the east side of Church Street, Cloyne. The existing building will be retained as part of the proposed development, which will entail the construction of a rear extension and a car parking area at the east end of the garden. Two test-trenches were opened at this proposed development site. The stratigraphy in the area of the proposed extension consisted of a tarmac yard surface sealing a 19th/20th-century rubble deposit, which overlay the natural subsoil. The stratigraphy in the proposed carpark area consisted of a dark garden soil overlying the natural subsoil. There were no archaeological features or finds recorded during test-trenching at this site.
