Monitoring of the ground-reduction works was undertaken within a development site at Castlewidenham, Castletownroche, which is situated c. 30m to the south-west of a ringfort. Topsoil was generally removed to a maximum depth of 0.3m. It was mid- to dark-brown in colour. The subsoil revealed was mid-orange/brown sandy clay with occasional patches of yellow clay. No finds or features of an archaeological nature were noted.
