Five trenches were excavated by machine with a grading bucket, removing topsoil down to the subsoil, at a site which is in the environs of a souterrain at Cappeen West, Enniskeane. An average depth of c. 0.4m of topsoil was removed, exposing an orange/brown gravelly subsoil, probably glacial in origin. No finds or features of an archaeological nature were noted.
