Testing of a proposed development site at Kerry Lane, Buttevant, Co. Cork, was undertaken as part of an impact assessment. Two test-trenches were excavated on the site and revealed the presence of a number of potential archaeological features. Minor investigation of these features, which consisted of linear trenches and earth-cut pits, revealed that at least some dated to the post-medieval period and contained crockery, red brick, etc. Dates could not be ascertained for four features, however, including two possible ditches. Full excavation of these ditches and two large pits was subsequently carried out by Miriam Carroll under an extension of this licence (see No. 192, Excavations 2005).
