The proposed development site at Banduff, Mayfield, Cork, is partially within the zone of archaeological potential for a ringfort. Four test-trenches were opened on the site and no features of archaeological significance were revealed. The National Museum of Ireland requested that the topsoil from the excavated trenches be examined using a metal detector. No finds of archaeological significance were recovered from the topsoil. The ringfort had previously been tested by Sheila Lane as part of a separate development in 1999 (Excavations 1999, No. 77, 99E0113) and a ring pin was discovered within the ditch.
