Monitoring was carried out during the construction of a dwelling house in the south end of the zone of archaeological potential surrounding the ‘site of a castle’. There are no visible surface traces of any structures associated with this castle and it is not indicated on the first-edition OS map. There were no archaeological artefacts or features uncovered during monitoring of groundworks. Further ground disturbance will be necessitated by the construction of an extension to an existing farmhouse in the area to the east of the present development site and this will be monitored in 2006.
