Test-trenching as part of a wider assessment was undertaken in advance of an eight-unit housing development which lay within the zone of archaeological potential for the historic town at Bunratty. The site sloped from high at the east to low wet marshy ground at the west. Eight trenches were excavated, measuring between 10–32m in length by 1.2m in the high drier part of the site. Nothing of an archaeological nature was found. The western part of the site was subsequently monitored. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted.
