The site of the proposed development, to consist of a single house, access, garage and septic tank percolation area, is located just outside Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan. It is near the linear earthwork known as the Black Pig’s Dyke, located in an adjacent field to the south. The proposed development site is situated in a relatively flat green field, rising gently to the north. Five trenches measuring 10m by 1m were excavated by machine. No evidence of any archaeological features or finds was revealed during the course of the excavation.
