Testing was undertaken at the site of a proposed mixed-use development located to the rear of Main Street, Cavan. The site is located in the centre of the town, immediately west of the new cinema/multi-storey carpark complex, and within the confines of the zone of archaeological potential.
The testing programme was undertaken following the demolition of a number of structures within the site. Five trenches were excavated within the development area and nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered. The stratigraphy was similar to that uncovered in this general area of the town.
