Testing was undertaken to the rear of No. 43 College Street, Cavan. The site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for Cavan town, but there are no known monuments located in the immediate environs.
Five trenches were excavated within the rear garden area, four of which were positioned along the proposed foundation lines. No feature of archaeological interest was uncovered during the course of the testing and the only finds were 19th-century clay-pipe stems and china/ceramics, all of which were recovered from the topsoil.
