Testing was undertaken in advance of the construction of a single house at Carrickane, Co. Cavan. The development plot is located to the east of a probable ringfort (SMR 20:5) and forms part of a larger residential scheme. Monitoring of the existing access road and services for the scheme was previously undertaken by Richard Clutterbuck (Excavations 2001, No. 35, 01E1110) and nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
Four trenches were machine-excavated within the confines of the proposed development area. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
