The site of a proposed development is located at Corporation Lands, Belturbet, Co. Cavan. The site consists of the land to the rear of buildings located on the eastern corner of the junction of Butler Street, Bridge Upper Street, Chapel Street and Church Street and is within the zone of archaeological potential for Belturbet town. The proposed development is to consist of a three-storey building over basement carpark and will include five shop units and eighteen apartments. Four test-trenches were excavated across the site, with Trenches 1–3 measuring 20m by 1.5m and Trench 4 measuring 25m by 1m. The trenches were excavated to a depth of between 0.6m and 0.85m. Similar contexts were revealed in all four trenches, with no evidence of archaeological activity on the site.
