This is the site of an enclosure formerly listed in the SMR (12:14) on the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme. Numerous archaeological features included a keyhole-shaped corn-drying kiln, large pits filled with charcoal-rich material, post-holes, curvilinear gullies/slot-trenches and a pit containing a stone cist-like structure which was not fully excavated during this testing phase of work. The features extended across an area measuring c. 400 linear metres and although no evidence for an enclosure ditch was uncovered it would seem that intensive settlement evidence is represented here. No diagnostic finds or dating evidence were recovered from these features in the testing phase of work, but it is assumed that the resolution phase will produce a more coherent picture of occupation associated with them.
