A spread of burnt-mound-type material was found in the lowest-lying portion of the same field as A021/058 (see No. 59, Excavations 2005), immediately adjacent to a double ditch which forms the townland boundary between Ballybannon and Ballybar Lower, during Contract 3 testing on the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme. The southern side of this double ditch was completely overgrown and filled with silt and vegetation roots, but the northern side had been recut in recent times and a stream flowed from west to east in its base. This stream would originally have fed the moated site (SMR 12:11) to the east.
