This earthwork site has been the focus of sand and gravel extraction in the past. This has resulted in the destruction of the vast majority of potential archaeological remains within the area of the CPO of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme. In form, this site resembles a small motte and bailey, with the vast majority of the ‘bailey’ element being removed by quarrying. However, slight evidence for two heavily truncated curvilinear ditches, possibly representing a small enclosure, was identified on non-quarried ground surfaces.
