Excavation of six possible archaeological features was undertaken between 3 and 7 June 2002 as part of the N11, Ballynabarney–Newtownmountkennedy realignment scheme. Investigations have shown that five features are not of archaeological significance. Two of these were agricultural furrows and three were natural soil variations. The remaining feature, a large charcoal-rich pit, appears to be archaeological and to have resulted from a single firing.
Editor’s note: Though carried out in 2002, this summary was received too late for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
