This site was excavated on behalf of Wexford County Council as part of the N30 Moneytucker–Jamestown realignment scheme. It is located immediately south of the existing N30, east of Rossdroit church. It was identified during centre-line testing as a possible hearth overlying a linear feature. Works began on site on 6 April and were completed on 7 April 2004. The topsoil was stripped from a delineated area to locate the potential archaeological features identified during the centre-line testing.
The site was forested until recently. This resulted in the natural subsoil being extremely disturbed. Features identified during testing have been interpreted as representing land clearance activity that is likely to have occurred since the 19th century.
