In conjunction with conservation works, the ground floor of the tower-house was excavated. Most of the floor area was badly disturbed and dug out. However, a small portion of packed clay floor was found in the south-east part of the chamber. A small number of late medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds were recovered. A distinct layer of mortar that had collapsed from the barrel vault above was found lying over the clay floor and was of modern origin.
