Pre-development testing was carried out on 14 July at a proposed development site in Blackhall Street, Mullingar. The development included the construction of a private carpark to the rear of Nos 5 and 6 St John's Terrace, Blackhall Street. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential for Mullingar town (SMR 19:89).

Two trenches were excavated in the garden area to the west and one trench was excavated in the concreted yard to the east, at the rear of Nos 5 and 6 St John's Terrace. The stratigraphic sequence was similar in the three trenches, with natural subsoils evident in all. Nothing of archaeological importance was uncovered.
