Excavation of this site took place during 2003 (Excavations 2003, No. 1992), which revealed in excess of 150 burials buried over at least three phases. An extension to this site was carried out in March 2004 along the proposed route of a services trench extending in a westerly direction from the west end of the site, across the adjacent carpark and crossing the subsequent route of an Eircom ducting trench. This linear excavation produced three further burials, consistent with the form of burial observed previously. The discovery of only three burials along this trench suggested perhaps that this trench extended to the periphery of the medieval graveyard, where the frequency of burials was less. No boundary was identified, however. Post-excavation work is ongoing.
