Monitoring took place of topsoil removal on an area of grassland at Castle Road wastewater treatment works on the outskirts of Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. This work was undertaken as part of a wider programme of refurbishment and upgrading of the existing water works and included a new water pipe running downslope to the Ballinderry River. It was this new water pipe that was subject to archaeological mitigation and entailed the stripping of a corridor of land measuring 40m north-south by 15m. A thin layer of topsoil was removed to reveal the underlying clay subsoil. Nothing of archaeological significance was observed or noted during the investigation.
