Monitoring of groundworks before construction of an arts centre on the east bank of the River Suir just beyond the route of the medieval town walls of Thurles was requested. Trenches for storm drains revealed a 19th-century ditch and piled foundations yielded nothing but 19th–20th-century pottery as a result of large-scale reclamation activity at this time.
