Testing was undertaken as part of a planning condition. The proposed house extension was located on the edge of the zone of archaeological potential surrounding a ringfort. One test-trench measuring 5m in length was excavated. Tarmac was initially removed to reveal mid-brown/orange topsoil mixed with builders' rubble. The average depth was 0.7m. The subsoil was yellow/brown sandy clay. No archaeological features or deposits were identified.
