Testing was undertaken on the outskirts of Clonmel in the townland of Ardgeeha. The works were carried out pursuant to granted planning permission to construct a large housing estate. Seven trenches were opened on the part of the site nearest to the enclosure. Testing revealed a number of field drains and agricultural furrows of modern date. One ditch was discovered. This appeared to be a continuation of the boundary bisecting the monument to the north and the field boundary to the south. No dating material was uncovered within its fill, although, as there is no evidence of a field boundary at this location on the first-edition OS map of 1843, it must be older.
