The site of the proposed development is located at the corner of Market Street and High Street within the heart of medieval Sligo. The proposed development is to consist of the demolition of a building and the construction of a new retail/ apartment complex. An assessment was carried out in February 2004. Two trenches measuring 30m by 1m were excavated by machine to the level of undisturbed natural. The same two contexts were identified in each of the trenches. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site.
