The proposed development site is located outside Sligo town on First Sea Road. The closest known monument to the proposed development, a fulacht fiadh, is located over 200m east. The proposed development is to consist of 159 houses, 48 apartments in three blocks, a cr_che, landscaping, access roads and related services. The site slopes from south to north, with the northern half being the result of extensive infilling by Sligo County Council in recent years. Twelve trenches were excavated across the site by machine in August 2004. No evidence of archaeological finds or features was revealed during the excavation.
