The site of the proposed development, to consist of a house, garage, access and septic tank/percolation area, is located just west of the post office within the village of Knocknahur. It is within the zone of archaeological potential for a well-preserved cashel located south of the development site. Five trenches, 1m wide and 10m long, were excavated by machine across the site in April 2004. They were excavated to a depth of 0.3-0.4m. There was no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site.
