The proposed development, to consist of a new access for a sewage treatment plant, is located on the outskirts of Ballisadare village. It is near an enclosure/linear earthworks. The site was tested in 1999 by Richard Crumlish (Excavations 1999, No. 795, 99E0245). There were no archaeological features or deposits identified in any of the excavated trenches.

All excavation work associated with the proposed new access was monitored in January 2004. The topsoil consisted of a thin layer of mid-brown clay with small stones and some modern crockery, 0.15-0.2m deep. It rested atop a compact grey/brown natural clay. No archaeological remains were revealed during the course of the excavation.
