The site of the proposed development is located just outside Drumcliff. It is near a medieval salt-working site further along the coast. The site is c. 0.5 acres in size and contains some outbuildings that are to be retained. The proposed development will include a house, entrance and domestic treatment plant/percolation area. Five test-trenches were excavated by machine in July 2004. All five measured 10m by 1m and were excavated to the depth of undisturbed natural. No archaeological remains were uncovered.
