The site of the proposed development is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval town of Roscommon. It is to the sides and rear of a dwelling house that is to be knocked down prior to the construction of townhouses. Testing was carried out in October 2004. Four trenches were excavated across the site, working around standing buildings. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during the course of the excavation.
