This site was found during monitoring of the Hughestown-Meera, Roscommon, N4 realignment scheme in which a number of small sites, including fulachta fiadh and pits containing burnt material, were found. This site (Site 8) was a pit extending over an area 4.4m by 1.1m in extent. It was 0.31m in depth and produced two layers of charcoal-rich deposits and baked earth. The subsoil at the base of the pit showed signs of intense burning. No further material was recovered from the pit and its nature is unknown.
