Monitoring was carried out pursuant to granted planning permission to construct an extension to a retail development at Main Street, Boyle. Main Street is within the zone of archaeological potential for the town of Boyle. Evidence emerged for considerable ground disturbance on the site. This was not too surprising, given that there was a previous building on the site. No archaeological stratigraphy/structures survived on the site.
