Testing was carried out pursuant to granted planning permission to construct a créche and associated car parking near the centre of Boyle town. This area is within the zone of archaeological potential for the town of Boyle.
Five trenches were opened on the site. Two comprised a build-up of rubble fill. This infill appears to be associated with the building of a large modern extension to the rear of Tangier House. Topsoil varied in depth across the site and was deeper and better worked in the southern area, where there was evidence for gardening and an orchard. No archaeological remains were uncovered that could be associated with the archaeological zoned area of Boyle town.
