Monitoring was carried out during topsoil-stripping at a proposed sand and gravel pit at Boolinarig Big, Co. Offaly. Across the 4ha site topsoil sealed natural deposits of grey sands and gravels, except on the line of the access road, where buff coloured marl lay beneath peaty soil. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
