Monitoring was carried out at Cloghvally Upper, between Chainage 16.880 and 17.680, in advance of the proposed Carrickmacross-Aclint road realignment between December 2003 and June 2004. Topsoil was removed using a 20-tonne machine equipped with a flat/toothless bucket.
One site (Site 113, Cloghvally Upper 2, No. 1364 below) was uncovered during monitoring. This site was subsequently excavated. Nothing further of archaeological significance was uncovered.
