It is proposed to construct 68 houses with associated services at a site located on the Navan Road, Slane, Co. Meath. This site contains a disused quarry and one listed building from the County Development Plan, which will be restored during the course of the development. Seven test-trenches were excavated. No features of archaeological significance were identified in Trenches 1–3 and Trenches 6–8. The remains of red-brick walls and an enclosed cement floor were exposed in the north-east corner of the site (Trench 4). These features appear to relate to the listed building that was originally the gamekeeper's house. The Rural Place Map (1910) showed a track that connected the gamekeeper's house and these buildings. A red-brick walled garden was also standing in the north-western end of the site. This feature is listed as being of regional importance within the Architectural Survey of County Meath, but it is not listed as a protected structure within the County Development Plan.
