Testing was carried out on the site of a proposed extension to the Credit Union building on Kennedy Road, Navan. The site lies within the north-western area of the historic town of Navan. Four trenches were excavated in the rear garden of No. 31 Cannon Row. They were 1.1–1.4m wide and were excavated down into the natural ground, which was uncovered at 38.1–37.9m OD. The stratigraphy comprised 0.3m of topsoil and 0.3–0.5m of gravelly sand overlying natural subsoil. The ground had previously been disturbed for the insertion of services. A north-south-oriented drain of post-medieval date was identified in the west of the site, but no other features of archaeological significance were noted.
