Testing in the townland of Cruicerath, 3km north of Duleek, Co. Meath, was carried out for the Irish Concrete Federation. Topsoil-stripping of the area had been undertaken in August and September 2003 by Goorik Dehaene and eight archaeological features were uncovered (Excavations 2003, No. 1367, 02E1716 ext.). Due to the ephemeral nature of the exposed features, further testing was recommended. Features uncovered included five linear ditches/gullies, two curvilinear ditches (one very shallow), a possible Neolithic house, a segmented curvilinear stone-filled gully and a shallow gully associated with a compact clay surface. The features were spread over two fields and stray finds included flint scrapers and modern pottery.
Five features appeared to be of archaeological significance and were recommended for excavation.
