Testing was undertaken at a development site at the western end of Main Street, Clonee. The site is to the immediate east of a possible church site and an area where a number of inhumations, dating to the late 18th or early 19th centuries, were uncovered.

The western area of the site had been subjected to extensive ground reduction works in the 1980s and testing concentrated on the eastern area of the site, which was relatively undisturbed. Three trenches were excavated in a garden area. In all cases the topsoil, consisting of a sandy silty clay, lay directly upon a limestone shaley gravel. Nothing of archaeological interest or potential was uncovered.
