Monitoring took place of groundworks associated with a development in the Bord na Móna (BnM) bog at Srahmore and Attavally, Co. Mayo. The development concerned the preparation of part of the BnM Bangor bogs to receive 400,000 cubic metres of peat excavated from the Enterprise Energy Ireland site in Bellanaboy, Co. Mayo. Groundworks involved the construction of an access roadway and concrete reception area, as well as silt ponds and associated drainage works. Monitoring commenced in December 2004 and is still ongoing at the time of writing. To date, nothing of archaeological interest has been found.
