The site is located close to the zone of archaeological potential for Louth village (SMR 11:115). An assessment by means of test-trenching was conducted on the site in advance of the construction of a housing development. A number of features of archaeological significance were noted during the course of the assessment, consisting of two areas within the south-eastern part of Field 2. One area contained a shallow spread with associated stake-holes, while the second area contained a number of post-holes surrounding a hearth. The trenches were backfilled and the archaeological features await resolution.
