An archaeological wade survey commissioned by DRD Roads Service was carried out between Chainages 10750 and 10950 along Aghnaskeagh Stream within Drumnasillagh and Aghnaskeagh townlands. This stretch of the stream will be impacted on by the proposed A1/N1 Newry–Dundalk link road.
While previous survey work here had suggested that neither fords nor other structures were present, there remained the possibility of identifying small timbers. Aghnaskeagh Stream was very shallow at the time of the survey, being only c. 0.3m deep, more like a sheugh than a stream. The banks had been badly trampled by cattle. No structures were identified within the stream.
