Monitoring was carried out on 2 February 2004 during groundworks for the construction of a sports centre at the southern limit of the archaeological area of the medieval town, on a site adjacent to the Dominican friary (SMR 5:36). Topsoil removal revealed that the ground had been disturbed by previous development. The thin topsoil contained tarmac and other finds of modern date.
