The site of the proposed development, to consist of a house, access, garage and septic tank/percolation area, is located outside the village of Newtowncashel. The site is near an enclosure located c. 100m to the south. Five trenches measuring 10m by 1m by 0.35-0.7m deep were excavated by machine across the site in March 2004. There were no potential archaeological features visible on the site.
