The site of the proposed development, to consist of a house, access, garage and septic tank/percolation area, is located outside the village of Newtowncashel. The site is near an enclosure located c. 100m to the south. Five trenches measuring 10m by 1m by 0.35–0.7m deep were excavated by machine across the site in March 2004. There were no potential archaeological features visible on the site.
